A pattern
contains notes and note effects. The notes are arranged in tracks. A track can
play one note of an instrument.
If a new note is played in a track the old note gets released.
This is the main editor window where you can compose melodies or drum sequences.
- Pattern: name of current pattern
- Instr: current instrument (this instrument
is used when a note is entered)
- Octave: current octave (base octave for
keyboard play or note enter)
- Edit step: if you enter a note the input
pos gets increased by this value
- Bar-Amount: size of current pattern. You can adjust
the patternsize in bars here.
A track can
hold notes, velocity and note effect commands (volume, pitchslide, sample offset,…)
To
mute a track click on the mute symbol (M).
To
set a track solo click on the solo symbol (S).
Here is an example of one track entry
C-500 64 1027
Note: 'C-5' This means a 'C' note, at octave 5
Instr: '00' play note on instrument
0
Velocity: '64' This means the velocity
of the note is 64
Effect : '1027' Effect column - contains 1027. 1 is the command
number, 027 is the parameter for that command
number.
Available comands are listed in Pattern Effects
See keyboard commands in Keyboard Shortcuts
Record/Enter
notes
to enter or record notes the pattern editor has to be focused/active.
You can use the mouse to do that (just click somewhere inside).
If you want to record notes while playing you have to press
the record
button additionally.
Solo/Mute
Snapshots
solo/mute snapshots can be used to play or not to play tracks
of a
pattern. Imagine you have a pattern with a melody and a basedrum.
If you want to have only the melody but no basedrum it would be stupid
to copy the pattern and remove the basedrum. With the Snapshots
you can use the same pattern with different solo/mute settings.
set/remove snapshots
move the mouse arrow over a line number field (white arrow in the picture under)
and click the right mouse button to set and the left to remove a snapshot.
