VersaTracker Mouse and Keyboard Commands

This document gives a brief list of VersaTracker keyboard/mouse commands that you will find useful. Many of them aren't very obvious. I've probably forgotten a few things, and I will be adding things as time passes...
Pattern Editor
Piano Roll
- Delete - deletes the selected notes.
- Ctrl+Drag (left button) - box-select a bunch of notes / drag-copy the selected notes.
- Shift+Left Button Click - select the note without deselecting notes that are already selected.
- Right Button Click- brings up a context menu.
Event Editor
- Ctrl+Space - insert a release note.
- Space - start / stop playing pattern.
- Ins - insert a row.
- Del - delete the data at the current cursor position.
- Ctrl+Delete - delete all of the data (ie. note, volume, instrument, effect) at the current position.
- Backspace: delete a row.
- Ctrl-C - copy selected area.
- Ctrl-X - cut selected area.
- Ctrl-V - paste to current position.
- Ctrl+Left Click - select and play the instrument at the mouse position.
- Double Click in Instrument Column - select the instrument number (if any).
- Key below esc - increase step by one.
- Shift + key below esc - decrease step by one.
- F11 - Toggle editing on/off
Instrument Editor
Sample Editor
- Del - delete selected range.
- Right Click - bring up a context menu (for zooming, etc).
- Loops can be edited by clicking on the loop markers and dragging them around.
Instrument List / Sample List
- A..Z - play the selected instrument.
- Double click sample - play the sample.
- Del - delete the selected sample / instrument.
- Ins - insert a sample / instrument.
- Right Click - bring up a context menu.
- Drag and Drop: drag and drop can be used all over the place, namely for the following:
- Dragging samples into instruments (both files and samples from other instruments). If a sample is dragged into the instrument list but not into an instrument, a new instrument is created and the sample is inserted into it.
- Re-arranging instruments (drag an instrument over another).
- Re-arranging samples (drag a sample over another).
- Dragging a selected range from the sample editor into the instrument list or sample list creates a new sample with that sample range only.
